I have a very embarrassing story to tell. Here it goes. I was in town to support my girlfriend for her nomination for her ESPY, for ‘Best Action Sports Athlete‘. Very cool. While in town, we got to rub shoulders with some radical people, and attend some fun parties at the Playboy Mansion, rooftop pools, amongst others.. On the big day of the ESPYs, we even got to walk down the red carpet. The red carpet is approx 150 yards long, off to the sides there are little ‘booths’ for Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, and stuff - they would just grab people like Terrell Owens, and be like “hey Terrell, come over here for a min, we want to interview you”… After 4 or 5 booths, there was a big spot off to the side for all the ESPN live broadcasting, and they would grab famous people/athletes off the red carpet to interview as well. At the end of the carpet there was the paparazzi row, literally hundreds of photographers lined up to shoot the celebs in their ’spots’.

Bear with this story, but you have to hear a little more before I proceed with the embarrassing part. 2 nights before we were on our way back from the Playboy Mansion (that’s a story in itself - I was straight chilling with the IRON SHEIK), and Jen and I made friends with 3 girls, one of them working for ESPN P.R. The next night we went to an industry night party for the ESPYs, and there was also a mini red-carpet - it ends up the girl we made friends with in the limo was the girl that walks each athlete/celeb down the carpet and holds sign up that reads each person’s name for the photographers. She was like, “Jen get over here and do this!”. So Jen walked and posed, did the thing, and the girl held up the sign that read “Jen Hudak, X-games Gold Medalist”. Totally sweet, people were into it. So now fast forward to the red carpet at the ESPYs. We see her again right away and she is the person again that is in control of the flow for the paparazzi flow. Well she, again, was like “get in there”, she informed the first ’stop’ of photographers who Jen was and they flashed away at us. The couple in front of us is none other than LANDON DONOVON and his girlfriend Bianca. Needless to say, coming off the World Cup, Donovon was a popular man with the photographers so they held him in each ’spot’ for as long as they could. At the second ’stop’ we were already embarrassed, because it’s freaking LANDON DONOVON next to us, and we just felt trapped, we couldn’t just go around them, and so we had to hold our ground and pose, do the thing for the cameras. Well guess who comes in right behind us?!! Marissa Miller!! At this point, all the cameras are pointed 100% away from us and at Marissa and Landon… but there is no where to go!! Holy shit it was like I had an adrenaline rush. Of embarrassment. After what felt like 5 hours went by, after maybe 5 ’stops’, even though it was probably only 1 minute, I look behind us, and I see, ESPN anchor Stuart Scott walking by, totally bypassing the paparazzi row!! Then it hits me… holy shit, “Jen this is like for the MEGA famous people only, lets get the f*%! out of here.” At that point it was pretty much the last stop and we realize Danica Patrick was in front of Landon. So it went: Danica, Landon, us, and then Marissa. Oh man. We’re expecting a US Weekly to come out and have a photo that shows the line up, with an arrow pointing at us, with the tagline “who the hell are these idiots?”…
