So there I was, minding my own business, on my way out of the Wolverine backcountry today, while coming down, we decide to check out Chad’s gap, because we heard Mike Wilson was on the scene, and maybe hitting it today. Well he hit it all right, and same with Max, and Jesse. I am thinking of joining the festivities tuesday after this storm rolling in replenishes the landing zone..

Here is what the in-run looks like. I only hiked up half the in-run. ROWDY.

I just tuned into espn360.com to watch the women’s superpipe Euro-X live. Jen crushed it. Through and through. The format works with a best of 3 runs scoring. Her three scores were the highest of the night. A 90.33, another 90.33, and a 91.67!

Go Jen !!

These kind of photos come by way of the pink light, the first 5 minutes when the sun comes up. This one really shows that light well. Location: Alta backcountry

Yesterday morning. Hop out of bed at 3:30am, get your shit together, eat your oatmeal, start hiking at 4:30am, on top, sitting pretty, when the sun rises.

So energizing when the sun hits. We had an unexpected wind hit us on the ridgeline, so the sun was a very welcome guest!

Bathe in it.

Lighting up Superior nicely. And Red Baldy in the background.

I like it.

Back to hiking. We had a nice moon shining on us before the sun came up.

Oh yeah, up top. We had a thick posse of all-time shredders in our group.
It was Sage, Adam Clark, Dave McReynolds, Jason Prigge, and myself.

Bout to drop……
The feeling you carry with you the rest of your day after tackling a mountain like this is amazing. You get down from the mountain before 8:30 am, when everyone else is just showing up to ski Alta/Snowbird. I’ve had plenty of days skiing the resort, lap after lap, loving it, but hiking up, one step at a time in the dark, and just being up there with just you and your buddies, looking down in all directions from the top of the world….. total radness.

I had the pleasure of getting to know CR the last couple years via Discrete. I am so happy I had that opportunity. He was an amazing person, skier, and inspiration. RIP CR.

Here’s the set up, skake your face as hard as you can, and have a photographer snap away. Wallah. A timeless shot. Ha!
