This is the 2nd Annual event with pro skiers coming to Montana to ski with and inspire the kids in the Big Sky Youth Empowerement Project.
As a tribute to their fellow pro-skier Billy Poole, RIP, a group of the world’s top professional skiers and snowboarders will be traveling to Montana to spend a weekend skiing with the kids in the Big Sky Youth Empowerment Project.
This is a fitting tribute in Billy’s honor because Billy loved Montana and the Bridger Mountain pretty much more than any place in the world. It was his dream of someday retiring there and skiing in the Bridgers as an old man. He used to talk about the cool old guys that would only come out at Bridger Bowl on the super great powder days. He said that they had it all figured out.
Billy’s big old heart would be swelled up with pride seeing his friends coming out to help and inspire kids to get outside in the beautiful Montana mountains and ski and snowboard.
This year’s athletes include: Rachael Burks, Julian Carr, Jamey Parks, Justin Modroo, Chuck Leffler, Heidi Tuituiohu, Patrick Harrington, Zac Watkins, Justin White, Noah Lohr, Corbin Siglin, Parker Cook, Andy Harmon, Brady Smedsrud, Kina Pickett, Matt Terry, Tyler Knowles, Kelly Holland, Chris Hand, Jesse Bryan, Ben Wheeler
The Big Sky Youth Empowerment project, Inc. was incorporated in 2001 in order to meet the demand for creative programs targeting high school-aged, disadvantaged youth. Founded by Pete MacFadyen, avid snowboarder, fly fisherman and then LCPC (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor), his frustrations with traditional counseling models provided a catalyst for the creation of BYEP.
